Seogwipo 서귀포  : Jeongbang Waterfall 정방폭포

The reason why many people stay in Seogwipo is that they have famous natural scenaries like waterfall for instances.

Just 15 – 20 minutes walk from my guesthouse is the Jeongbang Waterfall!

It is one of three major waterfalls in Jeju (and all of them are located near Seogwipo).  This one falls directly to the ocean though (or very close)!

The fall is 23 meters high and its width depends on the amount of rainfall.
Admission is 2000 won but you can get vey close to the waterfall if you want :). Legend has it that a dragon lives underneath here and the waters here can heal all diseases!

In another story, Seogwipo got its name from an inscription left by Seobu, a servant for the Chinese Emperor Jin, who asked him to find an immortal elixir from Mount Halla.  Failed to do so, he left a mark saying he went back west (he might have been the predesesor of all the “I was here” markers!).  The marker is no longer there now.

You can also eat fresh seafood from here!
